Counseling resources for distance learning

The Sharyland ISD Counseling Department is providing resources for students and parents during this unprecedented time of uncertainty.  Please take advantage of them to ease any worries or fears you, or your child, may be experiencing. We will be adding to the list in the coming days and weeks, so check back periodically for more information.

The following resources are intended for educational purposes only.  Sharyland ISD does not receive any monetary compensation for endorsing any website or affiliated services.

The Jensen Counseling Newsletter links will provide parents with resources for their students. Please use the links to access information for your child. The Jensen newsletters will have a weekly theme and resources for your use to help support your child's social emotional learning. Within the newsletters you will find a link that you can use to contact us. This link is connected to our school email and will get your message to us.

5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Exercise

When you’re feeling anxious, pause and settle your mind by naming:

5 things you can see
4 things you can hear
3 things you can touch
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste

We want to also remind students and families that are experiencing difficult times through our current situation that they can find emotional support through resources on our website, including Safeschool helpline, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, as well as, the HOPE Peer Support Warmline.

The HOPE Family Health Center has created the HOPE Peer Support Warmline.  It is an alternative for someone who is looking for emotional support. Here you can be listened to with compassion, empathy, hope and understanding. You can connect and feel validated with someone with similar life experiences. Their mission is to use lived experience to promote wellness and recovery in the RGV. It is available to anyone 16 and older. It is a free resource available in English and Spanish.

The Warmline is a toll free, non crisis line.  The Warmline staff can also provide community resources and are open during the hours other resources may not be available.”

The Warmline contact number is 844-755-4673 (HOPE)

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 4:00 pm- 10:00 pm

Individuals answering the phone are Certified Peer Support Specialist.  All phone calls are confidential.
